I’m going to upgrade my WordPress install to 1.5 today, so the blog may function a bit oddly or look weird. This too shall pass.
UPDATE: Several days later, “Alas” is finally back online, and may I say that rereading this post gives me a curious sense of… well, a sort of “damn, irony sucks” feeling. Y’know?

Yes, last time I updated my blog software, I posted something like “Well, hopefully we’ll be back up in a few minutes” – and as soon as I hit “submit” I thought to myself “oh crap, I just bought myself a weeklong nightmare of database hell.”
But luckily it actually only took a couple of minutes.
Of course, that’s because I use quality Microsoft products instead of buggy pighogs like WP and PHP.
