I wasn’t very pleased with Spam Karma — it let some obvious spam through, and blocked our “recent comments” sidebar from working — so I’ve gone back to Akismet, this time modified by Simple Spam Filter. In theory, if you write a post that Akismet thinks is spam, you should now have a chance to prove that you’re human by filling out a capcha (using the recapcha system, which uses crowdsourcing to digitize books).
Please let us know if you spot any bugs in the system.

Why do you hate freedom?
Weird. I got a random capcha while commenting yesterday long before this post appeared. I’m not sure what it was doing. We’ll see how it goes.
Jake, that was Spam Karma — it provides a capcha when it’s not sure if a comment is spam or not.
Robert, I hate freedom because I’m sheeple, and freedom makes me uncomfortable. It’s so much better if I can have a big mommy government making all the decisions for me.
I knew it, and now my clever stratagem has tricked you into divulging your secret agenda! Foolish liberal, you are no match for Conservative Man. [Flies away.]
Hey, we can say “Cialis” now. Truly, you have improved our lives.
Not only that, but it lets me put in proper links!
