William Pryor: Oppose! Oppose! Oppose!

Every time I think the Bush administration has found the single worse, most right-wing, most biased person in America to nominate for high judicial office, they dig deeper into a pit under a rock and find someone even worse.

So please, visit Ruminate This’s post about Prior. She’s got good links. She’s got background info about Prior that will piss you off. She’s got the info on where to call to encourage the Democrats to resist.

And then visit Jack Balkin’s site, to read his post. And, most of all, visit Ignatz, who has done post after post explaining why Prior is a bad choice.

And then go back to Ruminate This, and give your Senator a call.

    Do you ever get the feeling the BushAdmin is trying to wear us down? Like their judicial nominees, every time one thinks they couldn’t possibly get more arrogant and more destructive, they wage a war and make the poor pay for it; or gut social spending and drive up the deficit; or award tax credits to cops who shoot traffic violators.

    Okay, I made up that last one, but just wait. It’s coming.

    Pryor. You start out that way then go to Prior. Ignatz links today to a WaPo editorial that is absolutely scathing, with new information for me. The WaPo endorsed Estrada.
    Leahy and Kennedy were using Ignatz talking points on Pryor. Sam Heldman at Ignatz is an AL lawyer who has litigated against Pryor, so he knows the nature of the beast. Talkleft has been good on him too.

    In no universe could Pryor’s nomination be anything other than a fuck-you to the Democrats. Le dauphin debile has made his position clear: “Yo, Schumer! Take your ‘mainstream nominees’ and shove ‘em up your liberal New York ass!”

    Besides, the religious right’s getting restive. After all, it’s been two and half year since he gave ‘em Ashcroft. What’s that old saw about the devil collecting his due?
