My point being, generally, that is a mistake to judge the validity of a cause by either the quality of its allies or the quality of its enemies.

Actually, I agree that you can’t judge the validity of a cause by the quality of its allies or enemies.

Yet, it is also sometimes interesting to learn who are the allies, and enemies– even if it’s only to observed that politics make strange bedfellows. Or to observe that sometimes it doesn’t make strange bedfellows, as in the case of the Palestinian’s who clearly don’t want to be linked with the gay rights crowd.

I don’t mean to imply that there’s anything wrong with gay-ness in general, but now that I think about it… the KKK strikes me as a rather homoerotic association. That’s not what’s wrong with them, of course, but does this strike anyone else? Sorta like the Nazis.

I’ve never thought of the KKK as a homo-erotic organization. They do share racism with the Nazis. I was pretty sure the Nazi’s were persecuted gays, right? (Didn’t the Nazi’s run prostitution rings for the benefit of the soldiers? )

The notion, promugated by some black leaders–especially right -wing religious ones (but, sadly, not only them—look at Jesse Jackson), that there is absolutely, utterly no connection between the gay struggle against heterosexism and the struggle of black people against white supremacy is exposed as the Big Lie it is by the actions of those who have been the state -sponsored terrorists of the Jim Crow system in Dixie (and, to only a slightly lesser extent, the rest of the USA).
This does not mean that the gay movement has not to a certain extent brought this on itself by embracing a whiteboy- upper-middle class corporate version of “gay rights”—y’know, the Queer Eye For The Straight Guy kind of McGayness. But we ALSO need to see the many ways in which gender/skin/class privilege will not shield white, affluent gay men from persecution, at least during hard times. Everything IS hitched to everything else, as enviromentalist John Muir said……

I’m a pretty sure that both an “Adam” and a “Steve” have been made by God, in fact, many times over. What does this person have against Steve? And when did the KKK take up and anti-Steve agenda. Maybe if this Steve had been in the garden we’d still be in paradise walking around naked eating the best fruit known to earth’s existence?
