“Alas” is back online!

Posted by Ampersand | March 8th, 2005

At least, I think it is. All the data from before the outage seems to have been transferred, and it looks to me like things are mostly working. The problem was that the .sql comments table (containing 24,000 or so comments) was too big to transfer in one big lump; once I split it into pieces things worked okay.

Thank you, everyone who posted or emailed with advice or just sympathy - it’s useful, believe me! And special-huge thanks to Podz of What Makes You Happy - without his directions I might not have been able to get “Alas” set back up again.

Thanks as well to Jasper, f0r his inadvertant temporary stewardship of “Alas.”

Those of you who have been using www.theennead.com/amptoons/blog as the URL for “Alas,” I’d ask you to switch to using www.amptoons.com/blog instead (and, gosh-darnit, that’s a permanent address this time!).
