Monday Baby Blogging - Leftovers edition
| August 15th, 2005No cool theme this week, just a couple of cute Sydney pictures that I haven’t found occasion to put up before now.

I love this photo of Sydney and occasional “Alas” comment-writer (and my housemate/life partner/whatever) Charles. Clearly they belong to a club that’s far too cool to include a shmuck like me…

Nothing to say about this pic, really, I just think it’s a good picture of Sydney looking pensive.
By the way, for those whose desire for bloggy photo cuteness runs more in the “kitty” direction - and Sydney herself definitely falls into that category, she shrieks “kitty” with high-pitched joy every time she sees a cat (much to the consternation of the cats) - go check out the kitten pictures on Obsidian Wings.

Sidney’s voiceover for the first picture:
“I’m sorry, Mr. Ampersand. Our club is closed to new membership. I hope you can understand our position. If not, my associate Mr. Charlie here will explain things to you in his own, more physically direct, style.”

I love these posts! Baby blogging seems easy but is very difficult to achieve.

Barry, these are great! Charles and Sydney in that first one made me bust out laughing. All the best to you, Charles, and the little one.

Um, Amp? Forgive me for being the nosy, clueless poster here, but “life-partner”?
Are you telling me that fantasizing over you’re sexy-minded self is a waste of time?

Time spent fantasizing is never wasted, Antigone. :-)
But to answer your question, no, Charles isn’t my lover, and I’m not gay (I’m more like hetero asexual). But we do have a commitment to remaining together (along with a third partner - who has also occasionally posted on “Alas”). The three of us have lived together since the late 80s or thereabouts, and co-own a house together.
There’s really no word to describe my relationship to the two of them, although “intentional family” ain’t bad.

I really have no idea what this means. I guess you’re implying something, but I don’t know what.

It’s from one of the Jay and Silent Bob movies, but I forget which one. That’s how Jay introduces Silent Bob at some point. Basically, commited to remaining together, but not with nookie.
Sorry if that was offensive to you!

Not at all offensive, just confusing! Thanks for the explaining. :-)

But there’s already a word to cover this (you’re jewish, right) — mishpocha.

You’re welcome. It’s definitely one of my favorite and irreplaceable yiddish words.
