Robert’s New Blog
| December 4th, 2005Frequent “Alas” comment-writer (and token right-winger) Robert Hayes has started a new blog, The Argument Clinic. There’s a lot there that “Alas” readers will disagree with, as well as rare points of agreement. If you enjoy arguments (or just enjoy being pissed off by right wing opinions), check it out.

Excellent…my plan to dominate the world by creating a series of lightly-read opinion blogs is proceeding just as I have foreseen.
Thanks for the link!

What I really like about Amptoons is how you welcome people who think differently. Well done and congrats. :)

I have *no* idea what that last comment is all about. Looks like spam traffic to me — especially since his site has no content.
But well done, Robert.

Awsome! Personally, I find Robert hard to agree with, but he typically does come in well above the troll line, even though he does tend to write in a fairly inflammitory style. He’s usually pretty straight-forward, if he goes for a cliche it’s a pretty well-written cliche.
From the viewpoint of someone who enjoys playing devils advocate, I’m sure he’ll be a good read.

If Robert is the token right-winger, am I the token paleoconservative?

To tell you the truth, I’ve never been exactly clear on who is and isn’t a paleoconservative.
But if you want the title, you’ve got it! I hereby declare you the “Alas Token Paleoconservative.” Go forth and use this title wisely to protect the unprotected, feed the unfed, and lick the unlickable.

The paleos are the old guys. They were born conservative and stayed conservative. Think Zell Miller.
Neocons are guys who were often born as radicals/leftists/red diaper babies, had a liberal spell or sometimes a communist spell, and then became sternly anticommunist in their maturity. Think Norman Podhoretz or David Horowitz.
Left-wingers generally really dislike neocons a lot more than paleocons, because the neos used to be on the left-winger’s team. It’s quite understandable that someone perceived as a traitor to the cause is going to be more of a target.
You could call me a neocon if you wanted to really stretch a point, since my dabbling on the left-hand side of things was just that, a dabbling, rather than a huge commitment to The Cause.
That’s just my personal taxonomy, YMMV.
