“Alas” Upgrade Today!

Posted by Ampersand | April 16th, 2006

The upgrade has been completed - and as far as I can tell, successfully!

As usual, big thanks go to Podz, without whom I’m not sure “Alas” would still exist. If you enjoy “Alas,” please consider following the link and dropping something in Podz’s tip jar at the bottom of the page - he’s really been very generous with his time and skills.

It is now safe to post comments again. :-) The original post is below the fold.

In fifteen minutes - that’s 11 am Pacific Time - “Alas” is going to be going through some upgrades. It’s behind-the-curtain stuff, but it has to be done.

Starting at 11am, things may get funky here for a while. Also, anything that’s not in the back-up at 11am won’t be restored when the upgrading is done (which should be by 11:30am, if all goes well).

So please - DO NOT ADD ANY NEW COMMENTS AFTER 11AM!!!! Any comments you add while the upgrade is going on will probably be lost forever.

After the upgrade is over, I’ll edit this post to say that it’s over and you can go ahead and post comments again. :-)

I think there’s one glitch — I’ve seen an rss feed come through, about every 20-30 minutes for that “Experts answer: What Does DNA Evidence Prove?” post. Seems every time I’m refreshing bloglines, another instance of that comes up.

I think I might be seeing another glitch, in the css. Or maybe this is intentional. The backgrounds of comments, posts, and your sidebar divs are a subtly different color (more pink) than the containing div, which makes it look kind of weird.

Oh, the posts aren’t colored pink on the post page, only on the front page.

    Congrats on the successful upgrade.
