Monday (Tuesday?) baby blogging: Easter (part two)
| April 25th, 2006The second week in a row I’m doing a baby blogging based on an insipid Hallmark holiday version of a Christian holiday, and the second week in a row the baby blogging is a day late. Coincidence? Or petty revenge from a furious spurned Jesus? We report, you decide.

Anyhow, this week’s photos - all of Maddox - have nothing to do with Easter except that’s when they happened to be taken. Even Sydney, who is older, doesn’t yet understand that Easter is the anniversary of when the Great Bunny returned from the dead and rolled aside the giant colored egg blocking the entrance to Her burial cave; at Maddox’s age, there’s no chance she’ll grok these complex theological matters. But she seemed to have a good time nonetheless.

You hit the thing and it spins. Then you hit the other thing, and it spins too. This may not sound all that entertaining to you or me, but to a six month old, it’s entertainment gold.

At the risk of turning this into a Kolcraft ™ commercial, I have to say that Maddox had a great time in this contraption; it was hard picking out just three of the scads of cute photos of her in the thing. (I can hear Sydney’s grandparents - who read “Alas” solely for the baby blogging - objecting now: “Why didn’t you post all of them?”)

Of course, it probably helps that being six months old is the equivalent of being constantly stoned.

Apparently Jesus has punished you by replacing Maddox’s left hand with a pacifier. Captain Suck!

No, no, see, Jesus comes out of the cave, and if he sees his shadow you have six more weeks of winter.

Actually the facial expression and the chrome dome in the first pic really puts me in mind of a slightly drunk and amorous Patrick Stewart. “Hey baby…did you know I used to be on Star Trek?”

being six months old is the equivalent of being constantly stoned.
Or being autistic.
I have some friends who keep worrying that their baby is too into watching things spin, and that he might be autistic because of it, and I keep telling them “He’s not autistic, he’s *one*!”
Sydney and Maddox are some of the cutest kids out there.
