Monday Baby Blogging: Artist At Work
| February 26th, 2007
Here you see Sydney drawing on my Cintiq, which is a monitor you can draw on directly. (Much better than using a mouse or even a tablet to draw). Sydney’s concentration can get very intense when she draws.
The program she’s using is TuxPaint, by far the best of several children’s drawing programs I tried out. (And it’s free!) I’m not sure if Sydney’s learning anything about drawing, but she’s definitely learning to use computers; I’ve been really impressed with how much she’s learned about how to navigate TuxPaint’s option menus.

Okay, I mainly included this photo because I think the corkscrewing of Sydney’s hair is awesome.

Wow, I was just thinking no one would leave any comments on this one, and then two of my favorite bloggers show up - way cool!
Kactus, glad to hear it. We’ve certainly enjoyed the program.
Bint, what a wonderful post! Needless to say, feel free to piggyback anytime.

Ampersand’s weekly baby picture post. This week, it shows his little pixie drawing on his Cintiq tablet. As soon as I saw it, I got really excited. VanGoghGirl started out the very same way except she began with the Microsoft Paint program. We used to set it all up for her up until she

Thanks for the plug — I’m glad you two are enjoying Tux Paint! And man… here I am stuck with a non-optical mouse and a CRT. No fair!

I am not a parent yet, but I am an artist and a gadget freak who especially has a thing for tablet functionality in computers. It is great to see you introducing your young one to computers at a young age. It will be amazing to see what kids can accomplish when they start so young.

Actually, Sydney’s my housemate and honorary niece, not my daughter. But thank you. :-)

Whoa, those Cintiqs are expensive! (I know because Robin bought one a few years ago with some unexpected inking income, and it was like $3000 then.) I had no idea you had one (did I?)…
