Shiraz Socialist on Tibet

Listen, you Stalinists!
You have been systematically spreading lies about the ’Free Tibet’ movement, and offering uncritical support to the vicious, red-in-tooth-and-claw capitalist ruling class in Beijing. Of course, you are no strangers to the art of grovelling to, and lying for, a thoroughly reactionary, anti-working class regime in the name of “socialism”: you adopted that posture towards the so-called “Soviet Union” for sixty years, until the workers of Russia and Eastern Europe (literally) tore down the edifice of Stalinist totalitarianism.

I like this sentence because it contains the seed of its own failure.

Stalinism vs leninism. Both are wrong. National liberation (IMO more accurately described as the liberation of national capital), which is posed in this article as the alternative to stalinist Chinese oppression of Tibet, is also a fraud just like every third world marxist revolution that turned into an authoritarian dictatorship,
For a critique of so-called revolutionary nationalism, I’d recommend Fredy Perlman’s “The conitnuing Appeal of Nationalism”.

But where do we go for the all-important critique of the Whig Party?
(As Dave Barry would say: perhaps you do not believe America still has a Whig Party. Perhaps you are a fool. This is a bad analogy, in fact, since the modern Whig platform sounds like one that actually got press recently.)

[…] Alas blog amuses itself by the intemperate tone of Jim Denham’s contribution to the debate about Tibet at Shiraz Socialist. Though the same post by Jim was approvingly aggregated by Brownfemipower at the radical “blog and the bullet” site. The argument on Shiraz was not only bad tempered, but also relaied upon over-stretching historical analogy. […]
