Posted by Jack Stephens | October 15th, 2008 | Crossposted from The Blog and the Bullet

Today is Blog Action Day 2008 for the Philippines:

Cyberspace group Bloggers Kapihan over the weekend called on Filipino bloggers all over the world to join the Blog Action Day 2008 on Oct. 15 by taking on the issue of poverty through text, photos, music and podcasts, video and microblogging.

The event website is at http://blogactionday2008.bloggerskapihan.com/ where Bloggers Kapihan posted instructions and resources for interested bloggers.

“On Oct. 15, we urge bloggers to unite and discuss poverty. It may be an essay, a story on how they may once be poor or their fears about falling to the ranks of the unemployed. It may also come in the form of a video or a podcast,” said Bloggers Kapihan…

indeed. it’s good to see us filipinos taking part in this event.

for my part, i turn to sites like freerice (rice donation), kiva (microfinance), and goodsearch (donation per search), as ways to help alleviate poverty online. i also put up their banners on my blog. :)

saw this post via the blog action day site. it’s great that you’re participating. :)

It is nice to find out that my kababayan are inspired to join Blogger’s Action Day and show their support in combating Poverty as a global war against hunger and deprivation from having a better and sustainable future. I do hope that this initiative will continue and not just a “ningas cogon” act or remains written in our blogs but hoping it will put into actions! Good luck. Mabuhay kayong lahat.
